Mom's Casserole

This is a casserole that I remember my mom making quite a bit while I was growing up. I was in need of something Mom related so I made it. I wanted to share it with you. I have no idea where the recipe came from, it just always was.

Chicken Casserole
Place following layers in a 9x13 greased casserole pan.
1st layer
8 slices of bread, moistened with broth
2nd layer
Cooked 1 pkg. noodles.
3rd layer
1 cooked chicken, shredded
(I used 4 chicken breasts.)
Sauce:
Melt 4 T. butter in skillet. Whisk in 4 T. flour. Add 2 c. milk and 2 c. broth. Salt and pepper to taste.
Pour over top of casserole. Melt some butter and mix in cracker crumbs. Sprinkle over top of casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

I also added sauteed onions and garlic to give it a little extra zing. Yumm-o!

A taste of home.....I needed it.
